Back in the vineyard – and right in the thick of things.
As soon as spring shows its vigorous side, we’re back in full swing: The vineyards need care – especially the young vines, and for us at the moment, that means one thing above all: weed, weed, weed. Our Donauveltliner vines have already grown quite a bit.
Now it’s time to work delicately by hand so as not to damage the young vines. This is time-consuming, but essential – because every wound can influence development.
At the same time, we are delighted with the successful greening of our PIWI future wine vineyard with Souvignier Gris. Especially in young vineyards, well-thought-out greening is more than important:
🌿 It brings diversity and life to the vineyard – biodiversity
🪱 Supports beneficial organisms and soil life – completely without chemicals
🌱 Loosens the soil with deep-rooted plants – good for the young vine roots
🍂 Provides organic matter for humus buildup
All of this not only strengthens the vines, but also what we consider the foundation of all quality: vibrant, healthy soil. It’s been clear since our organic certification in 2013: Sustainability begins beneath the surface – with manual labor, knowledge, and respect for nature.
And: It’s a beautiful sight every year. 🌸
